Selective Laser Sintering (SLS) is an advanced additive manufacturing technology that uses a high-powered laser to fuse plastic powder into solid objects with exceptional precision.
How the SLS Process Works:
1️⃣ Powder Bed Preparation – A fine layer of plastic powder is evenly spread across the build platform.
2️⃣ Laser Sintering – A precise laser selectively heats and fuses specific areas of the powder, forming a solid layer of the object.
3️⃣ Layer-by-Layer Build – The build platform lowers incrementally, and a new layer of powder is spread on top. The laser continues fusing the material, gradually constructing the part.
4️⃣ Self-Supporting Structure – The unused powder acts as a natural support, eliminating the need for additional structures.
5️⃣ Post-Processing – After printing, excess powder is removed, and the part is ready for finishing treatments like smoothing, dyeing, or coating.
This high-precision, tool-free process makes SLS ideal for functional prototypes, production parts, and complex geometries, ensuring high strength, durability, and design freedom.
